Learner-Centeredness vs. Teacher-Centeredness: How Are They Different?

This study describes the teaching style behaviors that differentiate between learner-centered and teacher-centered approaches to teaching. The Teaching Style Assessment Scale, which measures style, was completed by 1,261 nursing faculty in Japan. Discriminant analysis cluster revealed distinctive characteristic distinguishing approach from is Personalizing Instruction. Instruction recognizes utilizes uniqueness of each student’s strengths. can facilitate students’ interpersonal understanding self-awareness. By implementing Instruction, teachers metacognitive process their students, healthy for individual productive meaningful learning. Learner-centeredness embraces while teacher-centeredness rejects it. Teachers practice styles nearly equally. most critical element indispensable definitive factor separating these styles.
